Regarding the question of what we are doing with our freedom:
#1 – Liberty is not to be used for licentiousness.
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh . . . (Galatians 5:13)
#2 – The price of maintaining liberty is eternal vigilance.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)
Even a self governed people can choose to place themselves under bondage with the yoke of socialism.

You posted the above a few months ago now and it really got me to thinking about our freedom and the direction it is going. Following are my summary thoughts ……….. “True freedom is not the unrestricted ability to think, say or do whatever, whenever, however one wants, it is the unflinching ability to think, say or do, whatever, whenever, however is right. That being said, the Bible in Proverbs warns that there is a way which seems right to a man but in the end leads to death. The difference between what “is” right and what “seems” right is the difference between true freedom and what I call fallen freedom. The vast majority of what today is referred to as freedom is fallen freedom which is not freedom at all but actually bondage cleverly disguised in which we are fully ensnared.” ……….. whom the Son sets free is free indeed. I plan retirement in a couple of years and have begun working on writing my autobiography / memoir which I have titled “Mere Minutes to Eternity”. Your post above has triggered the thought processes for book number 2 which will be titled “Fallen Freedom”

Happy I was able to provide some inspiration for you. I like your description of “true freedom” vs “fallen freedom.” That’s what sets liberals, and even Libertarians, apart from the Christian world view – do we want to be free to do “whatever the heck we want,” or do we want to be free to do whatever is right. Thank you for the link, I agree with all that Jim shared. Though I want to use “Fallen Freedom” as the title to a book, you are free to use it in any interactions with others or any postings you may make. Fallen freedom truly goes back to mankind’s original fall in the Garden of Eden. In conversing with another today, I have a few additional thoughts. “True freedom recognizes that there are boundaries and that real progress is made when working within those boundaries. Fallen freedom recognizes no boundaries neither does it recognize its lack of progress or its negative effects”
