Draft Judge Napolitano – But Not as a Republican

The other night I ran across a Facebook page titled “Draft Judge Andrew Napolitano for President.” I found that it is associated with a website devoted to the same purpose of convincing the judge to seek the Presidency in 2016. I like Judge Napolitano. I’m not aware of his having ever said anything that I disagree with and I would be pleased to have him as President. However, I have one problem with this effort.

The “Draft the Judge” petition concludes by calling on “Judge Andrew Napolitano to offer himself as a ‘Republican‘ candidate for President of the United States” (emphasis added). This despite the fact that after identifying numerous of our country’s ills, the petition rightly identifies both the Republican and Democrat Parties as the source of our problems, stating that they have “worked in tandem as an entrenched political duopoly to put the United States on this path, despite both parties’ claiming fundamental ideological differences.” Continue reading “Draft Judge Napolitano – But Not as a Republican”

Liberty Amendments and a Proposed Article V Convention – Are We Saving the Republic or Chasing Vain Hope

Rescue - 350Our Constitutional form of government is in peril. The intent of the framers of the U.S. Constitution is ignored with impunity. The concept of liberty through limited government is lost on nearly all that we send to DC. The national debt spirals out of control. The powers reserved to the states and the people are usurped as though the 10th Amendment has somehow been repealed.

It is upon this stage that Mark Levin’s Liberty Amendments and calls for a Convention of States enters. As I suppose most are already aware, conservative talk radio host, Mark Levin, published a book this past summer titled, The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic. In his book, Mr. Levin proposes eleven amendments to the U.S. Constitution intended to rein in an unruly, reckless and usurpatious federal government. Being Thankful Every Day

Pilgrims

Ah yes, it’s upon us once again, that most organic of American holidays where in the tradition of our ancestors and the spirit of the Pilgrims, we set ourselves apart unto a day of wanton and self-abusive engorgement of massive quantities of everything we can haul home from the grocery store in the back of our SUV, to be followed by self-indulgent entertainment provided by dozens of premium sports channels before retiring early in preparation for a day of unrivaled, frantic, frenzied mass retail consumerism as we compete to feed our greed for more stuff to fill our already overflowing houses with. Ah yes, the Pilgrims would be amazed at what we’ve done with their day of thanksgiving. I’m sure that if the good and Godly Governor Bradford who issued that first thanksgiving proclamation were here today, he would give us all a swift kick in the behind. The Truth About Republicans

Confused ElephantThis week I received my official “Truth About Republicans Survey” from Speaker of the House, John Boehner. In the opening line Mr. Boehner informs me that he urgently needs my help to “set the record straight.”

It appears the media has been spreading lies about Republicans and Mr. Boehner and the Republican Party need my help in making the truth about Republicans known far and wide. So, taking Mr. Boehner’s letter and the accompanying survey at face value, as opposed to cynically presuming it to be a mere marketing tool and a fundraising gimmick, I thought I would help Mr. Boehner and the Republican Party by publicly, and very candidly, answering the survey questions and doing my part to make the truth known.

There are 15 questions in the survey, each of which is followed by check boxes for “Yes,” or “No.” Frankly, I found a simple yes or no answer to be thoroughly inadequate for answering the questions. To merely check a box would give an utterly false representation of what I believe to be the truth of the matter. Thus, this article will serve as my full answer to the survey as I help Mr. Boehner discover the truth about Republicans. Continue reading “The Truth About Republicans”

The Declaration of Independence – Honoring the Spirit of the Founders in Today’s Political Environment

Declaration of Independence - CanStock 300x200What thoughts spring to your mind when the Declaration of Independence is mentioned? What concepts do you subconsciously associate with the act of the nation’s founders in signing that document and declaring their independence? If you’re like most of us, including me, you’ve probably had thoughts like “revolution,” “rebellion” or even “declaration of war.”

Terms like “revolution” tend to conjure up images of a bunch of malcontents who just don’t like to be told what to do, so they’re going to rebel and be free to do whatever the heck they want. I’m concerned that this, to a great extent, is the image of the founders that has come to be painted in the minds of many modern Americans. Howard Phillips – America’s Loss of a Great Christian Patriot

Howard Phillips Memoriam - Scaled for Blog

In the wake of America’s loss this past Saturday of a true Christian patriot, Howard Phillips, I am reminded of my response to a web post that I read a few months back. In commenting on an article posted at forbes.com, an individual stated that “My natural desire is that a new group of Founding Fathers would arise in the spirit of the original Founding Fathers.” My response to that individual was that America already has patriots Continue reading “Howard Phillips – America’s Loss of a Great Christian Patriot”

Boston Marathon Bombings and The Only True Source of Safety

CrossBibleFlag - 263x210Whatever the final story behind the Boston Marathon bombings turns out to be, one thing is already evident.  No amount of bombs dropped on far away countries, drones flying overhead, airport security scanners, warrantless wiretaps, or gun free zones can make a people safe.  Safety – true safety – is only of the Lord.

I am mindful of the first words that bubbled up within me upon seeing the twin towers falling on 9-11, “America, how long will you be proud?”  That is to say, how long will we trust in ourselves, thinking we don’t need God, that we are sufficient in ourselves, can fix our own problems and meet our own needs? Cures for the Health Care Act that Ails Us – Also Works on Gun Control

The Cure - 295x196I recently heard a comment on the radio about this being the year that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare) will begin to be implemented. Actually, ObamaCare began to be implemented in 2010 and is not scheduled to reach full implementation until 2018. This is merely the year in which certain of the more egregious aspects of the act begin to be implemented, as the Hobby Lobby case has brought to our attention. That reminder as to the violative nature of this act, combined with the President’s recent call for an assault Continue reading “Cures for the Health Care Act that Ails Us – Also Works on Gun Control”

Ichabod – The Real Message of the 2012 Elections (Part 3)

Part 3: Ichabod

Election 2012We’ve been discussing the departure of the Christian-conservative-religious right from the Biblical and Constitutional values that we have told ourselves we were contending for. We looked at an allegorical example of how this has happened gradually and subtly over a generation or more without our even noticing our departure from the God prescribed path or the departure of His presence and favor upon our political endeavors. But can such a thing really happen? Is there a historical precedent for it? Continue reading “Ichabod – The Real Message of the 2012 Elections (Part 3)”
