If you believe every conspiracy theory that comes along, you’ll end up paranoid and delusional. On the other hand, if you don’t see a reason to think a conspiracy of evil is afoot, then you’re not paying attention. Learn to discern what’s edifying versus theories and fables that are a trap designed to suck you down a rabbit hole. There is a conspiracy to lead humanity in a symphony of destruction, but we don’t have to dance to that tune.
OUTLINE
This is not a typical sermon topic. However, there is a spiritual point to be made.
I’ve pondered and prayed about this subject for many years and what I have come to understand about it has enriched me. I believe it will benefit you as well.
One day, I saw a connection between what I had learned about conspiracy theories and the chorus of a heavy metal song. I realized it could be put together to make a teaching. I thought it would be fun, but I didn’t know if I should do it. I prayed and sensed the Father giving approval to go ahead and have some fun.
If you believe every conspiracy theory that comes along, you’ll end up paranoid and delusional. If you don’t see any reason to think there’s a conspiracy of evil afoot on planet earth, then you’re not paying attention and are ignorant of the devil’s devices.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance paves the path to destruction.
In every area of life, we will either know what God knows, see what He sees, think what He thinks, say what He says, and do what He does, or, we will be vulnerable to and defenseless against Satan telling us what he knows, showing us what he sees, and teaching us to think like he thinks, all of which leads to destruction.

Two Kinds of Conspiracy Theories
Myths and Fables
In the common vernacular, things that are actually myths, fables, and legends get lumped in under the title of “conspiracy theory.” These can include things like Big Foot, UFOs, flat-earthers, the pyramids being alien technology, etc. While not actually conspiracies, we will find that these share common traits with actual conspiracy theories.
Conspiracies
These are things that would actually require people conspiring together to make them happen. These include theories about the JFK assassination, the belief that the moon landings were faked, the Epstein files, etc. They also include speculation about secret societies and a shadow government.

The Hook
Conspiracy theories get a hook in our flesh through intrigue, the allure of a mystery, and the enticement of secret knowledge. These are all things that the carnal flesh tends to be seduced by.
Most conspiracy theories are, by design, an unsolvable riddle that entraps the human mind in an obsession with something that can never be fully known. Such could only emanate from the twisted mind of the evil genius we know as Satan.
End time prophesyism can also become an obsession with knowing the unknowable and getting hooked on the intrigue of mystery and secret knowledge.
A Two-Part Test for Conspiracy Theories
- Is it knowable?
- Does it edify?
Knowable – Sufficient data, verification, etc. Can reasonable research discover the facts? A common hall mark of conspiracy theories is that they are a kind of unsolvable riddle that can never be fully nailed down.
2 Timothy 3:7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Edification – Even if a thing can be known and verified, will it empower you or will it edify others, i.e., instruct, improve, and build up?
1 Corinthians 14:26 …Let all things be done for edification.
Warnings
If you look for a conspiracy hard enough, you will find it, whether it’s there or not.
On the other hand, not all conspiracy theories are false. The word “conspiracy” is in the dictionary for a reason.
The term “conspiracy theory” is sometimes used as a pejorative meant to discredit. Satan and his crowd don’t like being exposed by truth tellers and will try to discredit them with put-downs. After Jesus cast out a demon and healed a man, the people started to question whether he was indeed the messiah, to which the Pharisees responded:
Matthew 12:24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”
The devil and his minions often accuse others of the very thing they’re guilty of. When they start calling other people conspiracy theorists, you may have just stumbled upon a real conspiracy.
It’s our duty to think, pray, and discover the truth for ourselves. Use the two-part test. Don’t get sucked down the demonic rabbit hole of unsolvable riddles, but don’t be ignorant of truth that can be known. Ignorance is not bliss; it paves the path to destruction.
THE GRAND CONSPIRACY – A SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION
With myths, fables, and general conspiracy theories now behind us, we move on to the thinking man’s conspiracy theory – the grand conspiracy.
As stated earlier, if you don’t see a reason to think there’s a conspiracy of evil afoot, then you’re not paying attention.
Those paying attention will begin to question why governments, politicians, political parties, even institutions like banking and big business, along with other global entities, pursue policies leading to debt, oppression, more government, less freedom, wars – generally all the attributes of Satan who steals, kills, and destroys?
If one assumes society is lead by intelligent people making purposeful choices, then the thinking man is forced to assume these leaders have a plan – a plan that looks like tyranny, oppression, and destruction for the people, but which we assume will somehow profit those promoting the policies.
This would constitute a grand conspiracy which, at the end of that trail of logic, would imagine all the leaders of the world meeting in the basement of the White House to worship the devil and get specific policy directives from some sort of antichrist society that secretly runs the world.
Lord Acton is cited as saying, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
However, it is actually lust that corrupts.
2 Peter 1:4 …having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Power does not corrupt. Power attracts the corrupt who seek to use it for their own purpose.
Some are corrupted with lust for money, some with lust for power, some with lust for fame. Yet others are deceived by Satan, telling them they’re so wise and noble that they can save the world and usher in a Utopian paradise without God.
All of these have become corrupted and, as a result, have become tools for Satan to work through.
Satan seeks control of the world, but he can only do so by influencing man, who has been given dominion on this planet.
There is no grand conspiracy. There is instead a grand concert of people operating under Satan’s lies, deceptions, and twisted wisdom, all of which flow inexorably toward destruction.

To the degree humanity unwittingly plays the notes of Satan’s symphony, it leads to destruction.
However, there is a heavenly symphony where the notes on the page consist of every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, and the Holy Spirit is the conductor, teaching and leading us in what notes to play and when to play them.
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Paraphrased: For the symphony of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the symphony of sin, death, and destruction.
No one has to fall into Satan’s grand conspiracy of destruction.
God’s people are only destroyed to the degree we lack knowledge. When we know what God knows, see as He sees, think as He thinks, speak as He speaks, and do as He does, we sway to the symphony of life where all the counsels of God and powers of heaven work together for our good (Romans 8:29).
