The following are photos and captions that I put together for a display at my Mother’s recent funeral.
Arlene Alice Peck – September 5, 1926 to September 22, 2018
1927 – Mom with her Swedish immigrant grandmother (her dad’s mother).
1928 – Mom and her #1 Hero – her dad.
1929 – Couldn’t pass up this photo, just too precious and classic.
Circa 1935 – Mom (on left) and siblings Bud and Ardell.
Circa 1940 – Mom joins the Pitsville High School marching band.
1941 – First picture Dad took of Mom. Dad’s sister gave him a camera for graduation so the first thing he did was to coax Mom into letting him take her picture on the way home from school in the Pittsville park.
1941 – First known picture of Mom and Dad together.
1944 – Mom’s high school graduation.
1944 – Dad visiting Mom in Los Angeles while on leave. Yes, we were much more formal and proper back then.
1956 – Mom and Dad after 11 years of married life. Mom carried this photo in her wallet for as long as I can remember.
1959 – First pic of me and Mom together.
1964 – Mom with Ronald Reagan before he became governor or President. Notice what hanging around with Mom could do for a person’s career.
1969 – And here we are as a family.
1985 – Mom and Dad the year before Dad went home to heaven.
1986 – “Sisters in the Snow.” Mom and her sister Del while we were all visiting Del’s son in Sandpoint, Idaho for Christmas.
1990 – Mother’s Day 1990 – Mom matches her flowers.
1990 – Mom in her glory doing what she did best. We met a group of Canadians who came down for a special series of meetings at our church. They hadn’t made lodging arrangements yet, so, Mom invited them to stay with us for several days of food, camping out on the couch, playing the guitar and singing songs together.
1992 – Mom and siblings all grownup now and with their mother at age 90.
1993 – Mom liked Spokane so much, she walked to the top of Tower Mtn. to see what it looks like.
2001 – Mom gets a sloppy kiss from a great-grandniece.
2004 – Mom with some of her schoolmates at their 50th high school reunion. Mom is left of center – the young one.
2004 – Mom rides a Harley with Jim Leigh while visiting Pittsville.
2008 – Another pic of me and Mom together. This time I’m bigger than her. (Constitution Party convention, Kansas City, MO)
2010 – I’ll just title this one, “Two Angels.”
2014 – Mom with some of our Constitution Party friends at the last national meeting she attended in Memphis, TN.
2017 – Mom in my truck/her car at Manito Park. I tried to get Mom out for a ride every week or two. After I bought my new truck, Mom kept calling it her car when she rode in it. We finally agreed that the driver’s side was my truck but the passenger side was her car.
